Peplum, Platforms and Flares...Oh My

Happy Tuesday all! Hope everyone had a lovely weekend, I am just now getting caught up after a fabulous trip to Orlando. I can not wait to share my trip recaps starting tomorrow! In the meantime fall is here and I just can't help but looking at the latest trends. A few of my favorites for this season are classic peplum and 70's inspired flared jeans and platforms. I pieced together an easy look that can take you from day to night and perfect for this in-between weather in the South.

First off, anyone can wear these trends. I like picking looks that flatter all body shapes and sizes. Peplum can be a bit tricky. It does "poof" out on the bottom so I recommend wearing this elegant style with a pencil skirt or as I did with this look, flared jeans. I wasn't sure about mixing these two trends but I love the result. When it gets cooler simply throw on a fitted leather jacket. I rarely wear jeans. I don't think they work on my body but when I find a pair I like they become a staple. For the last few years skinny jeans have been the must-have but I was excited to see this type of retro wear jean back.

Flares or bell bottoms are actually pretty easy to style. If you are on the shorter side, definitely go with the petite version and with this type of jean, I like to always add a heel. Heels dress up jeans and create a slimming effect. This particular pair are super comfy and look good with anything from a peplum top to fitted vintage rock tees. However, this is not the time to wear a loose, blousy shirt with no shape. When wearing flared jeans try and opt for a fitted top to create balance, it also gives that hour glass shape which is always flattering. To top off the look I added one of my favorite statement necklaces which works for all seasons, a quilted bag I snagged at the 75% Kate Spade sale and of course my trusty platforms which are so in this season. The platforms are high but are actually very comfortable which is a good detail when buying shoes.

Shop the whole look below and keep checking back here for new posts I have ready for this week including more fashion and travel. As always, I love hearing from you guys so shoot me an email or comment below with your thoughts and what you would like to see more of!

Happy Shopping!
