Travel Adventures Set for 2016...So Far

Happy second day of 2016! Wow I really can't believe that 2015 is in the books, it was a really good year for me which was much needed after my 2014. Even though I was sad to see 2015 go I love the new year because it brings so much promise and truly feels like a clean slate. I have made a few goals and no, none of them include dieting but it does include something I love, travel.

As you have seen in previous travel posts, I know a thing or two about mini-trips and even the hectic 24 hour trip. I've done both of these. A lot. While I wish I could spend a week exploring new cities, states and countries, that isn't a possibility for me with school, work, and budget constraints. However, mini-trips prove you can still travel and be back in time before your alarm for work goes off and it's much easier on your debit card.

Here are the places I already have locked down to travel to in 2016. Some are brand new, others have maybe been visited once or twice but there is still more I would like to see!

1. New Orleans, Louisiana

Confession, I have only been to the Big Easy once in my life. Yes, and I live in the South. I have a weekend trip planned for the last weekend in February for the Rock n Roll New Orleans Half-Marathon but just because I'm running doesn't mean I won't be able to take in all the sights and sounds! Plus, I won't feel guilty about eating beignets, carb loading, right?

2. Dallas, Texas

Excited to scratch one of the most popular cities in the U.S off my list in March. Longhorns, Cowboys, and everything is supposed to be bigger, right? Can't wait to see what desserts they have and pretty much all the food. It's in the South, so you know it's going to be good. Also excited for shopping, museums and all that the city has to offer!

Visit the longhorns...well, the bronze version... at Pioneer Plaza. Between the Aloft Hotel and the convention center. #CAMEXShow 2014:

3. Gulf Shores, AL (Hangout Festival)

Ok, ok, yes, I have been to Gulf Shores many times, especially since the beach is only a few hours away from Bham. This is however, my first time going to Hangout Music Festival! Pumped to be heading to the beach in May to watch artists like Calvin Harris (T-Swift cameo?), Walk the Moon, Fetty Wap and more take the stage for a weekend to remember!

4. Denver, Colorado

This is another destination that will be a first timer for me this summer! I'm excited to finally visit the home of the Denver Broncos, mountains, and maybe most of all, Voodoo Doughnut. Might be a little break from the humid and hot weather in the midst of a Southern summer. Pretty excited for this one!

5. Vancouver, Canada

Grabbing my passport for this August trip! First time in Canada. First time in Vancouver. I have heard nothing but great things about the city and it looks absolutely beautiful! This is going to be a good way to say goodbye to summer which I hope is filled with adventure.

There are several other places I am planning on visiting in 2016 but that will come at a later post when all the details are worked out. What about you? Heading anywhere exciting? How about a place I need to add to my own list? Let me know!

Happy Travels! Let's get out there this year!

Last Minute NYE Options

I can't believe we are in the final days of 2015, where did the time go!? Tomorrow is the big night and whether you have big plans out on the town or relaxing at home with friends and family, you can never go wrong with a little sparkle! Maybe you've been prepping since Halloween for your NYE outfit or if you just had something come up and now you are going out, I have your outfit covered!

Here are some of my favorites!

1. I love a sequined top like this one because it isn't too flashy and perfect for a more low key New Year's Eve outing. Pair this top with black slacks, denim, or a black skirt for a kick. On the plus side, this top isn't so "blingy" that you would still be able to wear it out for a fun date night with jeans and heels or a festive girls night out after we are well into 2016!

2. A centerpiece for an outfit such as this sequined jacket is a great piece to have in your closet. Again not so bold that you can no longer wear after the clock strikes 12 but is a fun way to unleash your inner Beyoncé. I have this jacket in rose gold and wear it with vintage looking (long!) rock tees and leather leggings for a cool vibe. A great look for going out for drinks and dinner tomorrow or watching the college football playoff games.

3. Rompers are still a stylish choice even if it isn't summer. If you are in a hot spot such as Cali or Florida, this is an excellent option. In a cooler area? Just pop a black blazer over this gold V-necked romper and you are good to go! I would advise minimal jewelry and simple nude shoes, this is a little more attention grabbing so you don't want to go overboard. Under $100 too!

4. If you aren't keen on all over sequins try one piece at a time, like this fabulous miniskirt in a beautiful gold. You can dress it as up or down as you want, try a black tank or fun graphic tee to tone down or add a white top to compliment the gold.

5. This romper is not only going to get you noticed, it's super flattering too! The 3/4 sleeves and shorter but looser shorts are a good combo when it comes to rompers. Again, this is an outfit that will get you noticed so go easy on accessories. I think this look would look fab with loose curls!

6. Another look for those looking at a more casual night in or out. These leggings offer just a bit of bling to the front and would love lovely with a black tunic and statement necklace. You can get a little more creative with the shoes since the leggings have more of slim fit and shoes can be seen on full display!

7. This silver A-lined dress is my top pic! It's so elegant and with the classic shape but still youthful and fun. You can wear this out and know you can dance the night away, not too clingy and shorter are my favorite flattering option. Love this one!

8. This romper comes in a lovely neutral color and can be dressed up many different ways. Going for a classic look? Add a velvet blazer. Edgy? Slip on a black moto jacket. Funky? Throw on a faux fur vest. Over the knee boots and classic stilettos work well with this one as would dressier flats. Since the color is more on the blush- nude side, you can add a little bit more bling to dress up or leave as it for a simpler look. Looks very comfortable so this a fun option if you are going out!

Good luck creating your perfect NYE look! No matter where you are, I hope tomorrow night brings you love, happiness and a few surprises :)

Happy New Year's Eve (eve)!
