The Real Vacation Packing List

 

 

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope you all are having a relaxing morning and making a nice recovery from last night. For the first time in a while, I stayed out past 11...yes I know I'm pretty much a wild child. Listening to great live music followed by a 12:30am stop at Insomnia Cookies (the more things change the more they stay the same) made for a very fun and much needed night out. I am currently writing this post drinking my tea in one of my Disney mugs (again I get it. I'm wild) and wearing the softest tee imaginable. I LOVE the brand Wildfox Couture, they always have the best selection of graphic tees, sweatshirts, swimsuits and cover-ups! They are made from the softest material possible (think your worn in tee that has a million holes in it but you refuse to give it up) they are baby soft.

 

How cute would this Rose All Day shirt be at Saturday brunch? Long plane flight ahead? Try this Travel Mantra inspired tee. But I am here to talk cover-ups! They have a wide array of swim wear and when I saw this light pink cover-up with the real essentials for the beach, I knew I had to have it. It is perfect for the beach, throw on and throw off, really light and sheer but not sheer enough that you can't wear it as an actual shirt out to run errands or relax around the house. It got so many compliments and I loved wearing it the whole weekend.

 

Cover-ups are like a girl's best friend. They get you to the beach looking stylish and can banish even the slightest of insecurities. Walking around a beach town in a bikini is heaven for some and a nightmare for others. But have you ever seen anyone looking self-conscious in a stylish cover-up? I think the answer is a no. You can sashay right up to the tiki bar and order your pinna colada in peace...and know you look good. This floral print (fresh off the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale) is great for on the beach and off as well as this henna covered caftan (also on sale until Aug 3rd). You may know by now I love me some fringe, so this fringe kimono is the perfect boho beach piece. I also love the lux look of this jewel by the pool silk cover-up (on sale!).

Sunny Sundress Living

 

The waves crashing, the sunlight radiating, cold drinks and yes, your favorite Lilly dress. All these things are commonly found at/during a typical beach stay.

 One of my favorite dresses just had to make an appearance at my mini-beach stay vacation this past weekend. I pulled this dress from the archives because it just screams beach day to me! This dress is from a couple of seasons back, I actually got it on sale which would explain why it's a little big on me but hey a deal is a deal even if it's not in your size.

 Lilly dresses are timeless in my opinion, I go to Florida frequently and these dresses are always a must-pack for me. I like them because they are great stand-alone pieces and you don't need tons of accessories to complete the look, they are so bright and colorful that they liven up anyone's wardrobe. Shift dresses can be tricky for someone that isn't a size 2 but I have found that Lilly dresses are some of the most flattering. I tend to go for the shifts that don't have bulky material (check the material in person or look at reviews online!) and provide a bit more stretch in the mid section.

Lilly dresses are a little higher than what I would normally pay but you are definitely getting a quality item that will stand the test of time.
